As endemic unending cases of corruption, embezzlement and theft of public funds continues to rock the Buhari led government; The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has released the list of 23 companies which some members of the Nigerian National Assembly used to secure contracts from it as a bribe.
The bribes were alleged to have been demanded by the lawmakers before harmonizing the 2019 budget of the commission.
The NDDC in a statement signed by Edgar Ebigoni, special adviser on media to the commission’s chairman, Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei further alleged that the contracts, totaling N9 trillion were awarded and paid between March 17 and 26, 2020.
The contracts include rehabilitation of roads as well as repair works on failed roads in NDDC communities as seen in the document.
It was learnt that the lawmakers collected as much as 250 contracts in one day through some proxies.
Many Nigerians have had to wake up each day to severe hardship while their political class milk the nation dry through unprecedented corruption and theft of public funds.
