The group current project on Fibromyalgia is very worthy of note. They have launched an initiative to create awareness on the effects of Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes widespread pain throughout the body. This illness can also cause sleep problems, fatigue and mental or emotional distress. Patients with fibromyalgia are often more sensitive to pain than those who do not have fibromyalgia. This referred to as abnormal pain perception processing.
Elite Golden Ladies have intensified campaign to bring to the attention of many in Africa about the existence of this illness. It is estimated that Fibromyalgia affects about 1.5% of the African adult population, which is roughly 4 million. No cure has been found for this illness but, research is been intensified to find an effective treatments that can help keep patients managed.
In an interview with our reporter, the President of the group Chief Mrs Nkechi Okezuruonye said the group is determined to create the necessary awareness about this illness. She said the group intend to bring about greater attention of the world so proper funding can be made available to provide respite from sufferers.
